Celje is a city with green “lungs” – with the largest area of urban forest per capita in Slovenia. It contains numerous hiking and cycling routes, including those suitable for more demanding recreational enthusiasts and professional athletes as well; the most popular being the climb to Celjska koča (Celje Hut).

Start your dynamic ride from the Park & Ride car park and follow the cycle along the left bank of the Savinja River, with views of the Celje Castle. Crossing the bridge over the Voglajna River, join the main road and continue cycling straight on in the direction of Laško. Along the way, the picturesque green scenery of the Hills of Celje, where our destination awaits, will accompany you. Keep an eye out for the directional sign by the tunnel, turn left begin the 6km long ascent. The steep start of the hill is followed by a gradual climb through the forest, where beautiful vistas over the Celje Basin and the Celje Castle open up. Arriving at your destination, you will be rewarded with spectacular views of the surrounding peaks. Take a culinary break in the cosy atmosphere of the restaurant at Hotel Celjska koča. Continue on the route to the village of Svetina and return to the starting point via Štore or Laško.
