Following a winding road, you will find yourself among the hills of Celje with incredible views.
A 20-minute drive from the city will bring you to the heritage-protected village of Svetina located at just below 700 meters above sea level. It has received the title of the most beautiful Slovenian mountain village several times. Since the 15th century the St. Mary of the Snows Church has been reigning on the grassy saddle with beautiful views. Just above the village stands the Almin dom na Svetini cottage, dedicated to Alma M. Karlin, a famous woman world traveller who at the beginning of the 20th century travelled all over the world all by herself and made her living as a publicist, writer and translator. The village of Svetina seemed to her to be the most beautiful place in the world, so she and her girlfriend Thea lived there for the rest of their lives. Her grave can be visited in the cemetery.
