The artificial lake with 11 km of shoreline was created in 1970, as a reservoir to control the torrential waters, mainly from the Koprivnica and Jezernikov graben streams. In addition to its original function as a flood reservoir, the lake and its surroundings have become a popular area for sports enthusiasts, tourists and for anyone looking for a relaxing walk.
