Just a stone's throw away from the centre of town is another popular tourist attraction called Celjska koča (the Celje Hut), which one can reach using well maintained walking and cycling paths through the countryside. Cycling in the area of Celjska koča is suitable for more experienced recreational cyclists, as the route does include quite a few challenging uphill sections.

The mountain bike trail at Celjska koča starts from a small sandy car park, which is also the beginning of the marked trail called “Stari plac” (Old Place). Start the route on an asphalt road that leads to Celjska koča. After just under 3 km, turn right onto a well-maintained gravel cycle path called “Na Vrheh”, which leads to Celjska koča. Enjoy some of the culinary delights on offer on the outdoor terrace of the hotel restaurant, which offers exceptional panoramic views. From Celjska Koča you can continue cycling towards Dom na Svetini (mountain hut/restaurant). It is situated on a lookout point above the village of Svetina, which has been awarded the title of the most beautiful Slovenian village on several occasions. Continue on the circular route back towards Celjska koča, from where you will carefully descend back to the starting point using the well-maintained “Stari plac“ cycle path.
