As one of the most important cultural institutions of this kind in Slovenia, the Center for Contemporary Arts Celje supports the development and promotion of contemporary arts and curating.
Next to the works by Celje-based artists and some key Slovenian contemporary artists, a number of international guest artists working in Celje are represented in the permanent collection. Designed as a two-month art residency aimed at international artists and curators, the Air Celeia programme has been active since 2005. It is there to provide space and time for in-depth exploration and creation. In addition to art exhibitions, the Center for Contemporary Arts frequently hosts lectures, public guided tours, talks with artists and round tables. Managed by the Celeia Celje Institute, the Center for Contemporary Arts Celje is performing its programme in three exhibition areas: the Gallery of Contemporary Art, the Art Salon and the Račka Gallery.
