The spectacular musical Veronika Deseniška returns to Celje Castle in 2025 with four performances.

Veronika Deseniška is undoubtedly the most spectacular Slovenian outdoor musical and one of the most prominent artistic projects in Celje this millennium. To date, it has been seen by over 25,000 visitors at Celje Castle. The music from the musical is performed by orchestras, choirs, and ensembles across the country. Two reissues of the soundtrack have sold out, and the production has also gained attention in foreign media.
The performance tells the famous legend of the powerful Counts of Celje dynasty, the tragic love story of Frederick II and Veronika of Desenice. It is distinguished by the exceptional music of Leon Firšt, the most innovative Slovenian composer of the younger generation, a top-notch script by Slovenian musical master Janez Usenik, breathtaking 3D video mapping projections, and a star-studded cast of sixty musicians, actors, and dancers led by Eva Černe, Klemen Bunderla, Tjaša Hrovat Steklasa, Gregor Ravnik, Marjan Bunič, and Maša Tiselj.
In 2025, the musical will be part of a series of events honoring Veronika Deseniška and the 600th anniversary of her death, taking place in Celje and at Celje Castle throughout the year.

The road to Celje Castle will be closed from 6:00 PM onwards.
🚌 Free Shuttle Service:
Shuttles will run from 6:30 PM from the bus stop near Celje Railway Station.
Return transport will be available 10 minutes after the show ends.
🚖 Taxis:
Taxis are allowed access to the castle area.
🚶♀️ On Foot:
You are welcome to walk up to the castle using marked walking paths.
